It has come to the time when we must seriously consider which school system we would like didi to be in: local or international.
After quite a few sessions at the playgroup, maMi noticed that didi is probably the happiest kid in his class because he screams and dances to the music all the time. However, this also means it can be difficult for the teacher or me to get him to sit still like other kids in the class since they are all older than didi. didi doesn't like art class that much but enjoys his music class tremendously that he runs around and does his funky dances when he is up there in the music room.
Time is almost up and it really is about time for us to make our final decision now. The preliminary idea is that we will most likely send him to a local school as we think the ability of a kid in reading/speaking/writing Chinese will be far more important than having him speaking English with a perfect British or American accent. I mean, language is a medium of communication and as long as you can speak it fluently, it really doesn't matter what kind of accent you have. After all, this is a global village and I am sure he will be a confident guy who knows to look at this world with an open mind and be kind to people of different races, and speaking different languages.
On the other hand, some might tell me that kids from international school system are trained with skills to think and solve things more independently and more confidents than kids from local school sytem. I am sure that's true but I believe that with proper assistance, we will try our best to help didi in gaining those positive attributes too. It will involve a lot of thinking and work, but definitely worth trying.
