Kung Fu Kid

Mommy is so proud of you didi. You are the youngest in your Kung Fu class but you tried your best and did such a great job. All I want is for you to enjoy what you are doing and give it your 100% best.

Love,
Mommy

Playdate

Invited some kids from didi's class over for a playdate. They all had a great time! We should do this more often!

I asked the kids to show me various emotions in the photos, happy, sad, excited and serious. Can you tell which is which?

blogger-emoticon.blogspot.comI know I cannot figure it out quite right myself although I "art-directed" these photo shoots.

Clubhouse Disney Birthdaybook

This was part of Project Birthday Party that mami put together for didi in 2009.
After learning didi was fascinated by the Clubhouse Disney Birthdaybook, I made up my mind that he must appear on this video clip when September came.

So in July, I sent in the photo to Singapore, and hopping that his photo would be selected. They said if your kid's photo is selected, they would inform you but I heard nothing from them. Just when I thought didi is not in this this year, we saw his smiling face popped up on TV when we had dinner one day!

We did not capture it on video that time and have tried so many times trying to capture that clip...finally Annabelle did it yesterday at 11:25am. haha, I know this sounds silly but I feel the Project Birthday Party can now officially close file!

Imaginative Four

didi turned 4 last Wednesday and we put together a party on the Sunday before that. I couldn't believe the kid was afraid of the clown and kept running away from his own party!

We had a huge turn out and I am so glad that although we did not had the "best" clown, the kids seemed to have fun.

Primary 1 application is coming up and I know that we have to apply at least two schools for him. Should I do the 3rd one? I do have another one in mind but the fee is so substantially more from P3 onward...I really hope didi can get into the system that he is in right now.

didi is very imaginative these days, we usually play this game called "read a story without a book" before he goes to bed. This allow him to think up a story on his own, it does not all make sense sometimes but this is a good start. Who knows, I could be training a writer!

He put him on the school bus his year and thanks God, he is doing OK. No car sickness reported yet.

He also had some major hives went on for about 2 weeks before school started in late August. He had me worried for a while and we finally took him to a Chinese herbal doctor and wala, those dried wees and insects (yeah...I definitely saw some sort of bug shell in those packages) worked wonders. All hives were gone after two doses, this made the western medicine looked bad. He went to his regular doctor twice and they couldn't really help them, the hives kept breaking out. He has this coughes that just won't go away, I think it is about time I take him to this Chinese herbal doctor again and see if he will stop didi's coughs once and for all.

Birthday Party

We threw a birthday party for didi and invited some of his classmates and old school mates. The kids had a great time although we won't recommend our clown of the day to any of our friends...Let's just say...she was not "clowny" enough!

We only decided we would put together a party for didi in the first week of August and none of us (hubby and I) are professional party planners. However, it was a good get together for the kids and the parents and we are glad that we made it happen.

The funny thing was, birthday boy so terrified of the clown that he kept running away from his own party. The clown did body painting for the kids at the beginning and all the kids lined up to have their arms painted with princesses or Thomas the train. Didi kept saying "I don't want anything from the clown." I just could not understand why he was so terrified at the time. He ran for the door whenever he could and I had to chase him and tried to make him stay in the room. He even turned down the floating baloon from the clown! Yes, he was that terrified.

The event took a sharp turn afther the clown started to play games with the kids. Didi got hooked at that point and stopped running away. Thank God!

Would we do another huge party like this one? Don't get me wrong, I love kid parties but I think this is something that we will do every year...May be small playdate/party in the future, that can be loads of fun too!
